- Multimedia Content and Production Coordinator
Description
SUMMARY
This position works under the direction of the Assistant Director of Communications to identify, develop, and produce photos, video, and other multimedia content for Tacoma Public Schools' internal and external audiences. The position develops compelling visual stories showcasing Tacoma Public Schools students, staff, programs, and community partners in support of the District's communication, marketing, and branding strategies. Provides technical leadership for livestreaming public meetings and the operation of KTPS television programming.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Collaborates with the Communications team, school administrators, and District leaders to identify, develop, and produce engaging multimedia stories that support District priorities and strategic communication initiatives.
- Serves as the Communications Department's subject matter expert and technical resource for photography, videography, multimedia production, and related technologies.
- Creates high-quality photography that meets Tacoma Public Schools brand and quality standards.
- Identifies, develops, and produces multimedia stories; prioritizes projects based on District communication priorities and manages multiple production schedules to meet deadlines.
- Maintains compliance with District policies related to student privacy, media releases, and the use of student images.
- Evaluates, recommends, and implements emerging multimedia technologies and production techniques; serves as the Communications Department's technical resource for multimedia production, editing software, and related applications.
- Serves as the technical lead for livestreaming public meetings and multimedia production supporting KTPS programming and scheduling.
OTHER JOB DUTIES
- Maintains and updates knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development activities as needed or as assigned.
- Serves as a resource for the Communications Team by sharing technical expertise related to photography and video production.
- Assists with special projects and performs related duties as assigned.
CONDITIONS
Office environment; experiences frequent interruptions; experiences prolonged visual concentration and exposure to video display; required to deal with a variety of people in varied situations; will travel to district and other sites; experiences inflexible deadlines; required to work flexible and/or extended hours
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Associate’s degree in communication, journalism or marketing, or a related field involving video, photography, and social media content creation; three years of professional experience in a content creation role.
Allowable Substitution
Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be evaluated by the Human Resources department for comparability.
Licenses/Special Requirements
Valid Washington State driver’s license, automotive insurance, and personal vehicle are necessary to perform the work of this position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of strategic visual storytelling and multimedia communication principles.
Skill in independently identifying, developing, and prioritizing multimedia stories aligned with District priorities.
Ability to advise administrators on multimedia communication approaches and production techniques.
Ability to exercise independent judgment in planning and executing multimedia projects with districtwide visibility.
Ability to provide technical leadership and consultation related to multimedia production.
Knowledge of video, still photography and POV cameras.
Knowledge of studio lighting
Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and English usage
Knowledge of both Macintosh and PC computer platforms
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud. In particular: Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Bridge
Knowledge of motion graphics and After Effects
Experience working in public education, government, or non-profits
Skill in effective problem solving and decision making
Skills in interviewing and interpersonal communications
Ability to concentrate on detail and be precise
Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural and diverse socio-economic setting
