Position: Marketing Specialist/Graphic Designer (Full-Time/Exempt)
Hiring Salary Range: $57,713 - $72,142
Full Salary Range: $57,713 - $86,570

The Marketing Specialist is primarily responsible for creative services including, graphic design, layout and production, displays, digital assets, presentations and other promotional materials used to promote and advertise all aspects of the District, special event planning, and community relations. Our ideal candidate is someone willing to wear multiple hats on a small team - whether it’s brainstorming campaign ideas, helping create creative content or working a special event. We are in need of someone who will jump in and collaborate wherever needed!
Requirements
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and translate stories and information into design, organizing and executing graphic design projects across different platforms and campaigns.
- Produce two Recreational Magazines annually from initial concept/design to final format. Involves editing, design layout, selection of cover feature, photo and ad placement, etc.
- Provide a suite of cohesive designs for a variety of applications for the marketing department to implement. Ensure artwork and copy are the accurate size, type, and style for each application, and follow company branding guidelines. This includes all marketing materials such as, brochures, direct mail pieces, digital and social media assets, presentation materials, banners, annual report, flyers, signage, advertisements, e-newsletters and digital boards.
- Brainstorm, design, and produce content/material to be used in both print and digital marketing, advertising and promoting the District to residents and the surrounding communities. Think creatively to produce new ideas.
- Edit and proofread material with close attention to detail before publication.
- Prepare and provide creative drafts and samples to co-workers and management for review. Make edits as necessary based on collaborative feedback. Exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.
- Manage, organize and maintain our visual assets library, graphic files, including District logos, photos and art.
- Work collaboratively with all marketing department team members to plan, create content, execute initiatives and meet department goals.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the brand style guidelines, templates and iconography. Ensure that graphics, logos, illustrations and electronic communications adhere to the District's branding policy and quality standards.
- Balance and prioritize marketing requests and initiatives for the District and individual departments.
- Communicate design standards to staff as well as restrictions/limitations and ensure compliance with graphic standards and sign-off procedures.
- Determine printing specifications and secure estimates and bids on all print assignments.
- Complete reports/forms such as purchase orders, request for payments, request for service, or incident/accident.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending design trainings and reviewing industry publications. Continually grow familiarity with new and developing creative design technologies, tactics and strategies.
- Serves as a District representative by providing ideas, solutions and information to internal customers. Understand and articulate the District’s mission and programs through design work and provide general information to the public regarding parks and recreation operations and programs.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with all internal departments and vendors. Works within marketing department guidelines and with supervisor to maintain consistency of messaging.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Graphic Design or directly related field and five (5) years experience of considerable increasing responsibility in that field; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and years of experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment.
- Proficiency in a variety of software including Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop are required.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office software preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Cloud Suite required.
- Knowledge and experience in graphic design, print and digital media, communication and storytelling concepts and approaches. Able to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them seamlessly into images, layouts and other designs.
- Experience with Allyant's CommonLook software for document remediation to fulfill digital accessibility requirements preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to clearly communicate the reasoning behind design choices.
- Ability to manage feedback constructively and iterate quickly to adjust design based on feedback.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines required.
- Ability to balance and prioritize marketing requests and initiatives for the District and individual departments.
- Knowledge of the District and surrounding area preferred.
- Experience in photography and/or videography and editing preferred.
- Experience in practicing and executing Digital Accessibility standards and compliance parameters of Colorado’s accessibility laws (House Bill 21-1110) and following WCAG 2.1 AA as a minimum standard of accessibility preferred.
