Opportunity Overview
Centro de Venas del Caribe is seeking a vascular medicine / vein-focused procedural physician to join an established and growing outpatient vascular and venous disease practice in Puerto Rico.
The ideal candidate is a vascular medicine board-certified physician, preferably with prior training in internal medicine or cardiology, who is interested in a high-volume ambulatory practice focused on:
-Vascular medicine
-Venous disease evaluation
-Duplex-guided treatment planning
-Risk-factor management
-Office-based venous procedures
-A general surgeon seeking a transition into a lifestyle-oriented outpatient procedural practice may also be considered, provided the candidate is highly motivated to train in vascular medicine, venous disease management, and office-based vein procedures.
This is not a startup role. The patient flow, vascular laboratory infrastructure, administrative systems, and operational teams are already in place.
Requirements
Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest candidate will be clinically thoughtful, procedure-oriented, patient-centered, and comfortable practicing in a specialized outpatient model.
Preferred Background:
Board certification or board eligibility in vascular medicine
Prior training in internal medicine, cardiology, or a related vascular-focused field
Experience or strong interest in venous disease and vascular medicine
Comfort with duplex-guided diagnosis and treatment planning
Interest in office-based venous procedures
Strong patient communication skills
Spanish fluency
Interest in productivity, quality, and long-term practice growth
Willingness to work within standardized clinical protocols
General surgeons may also be considered if they are seeking a deliberate transition away from a hospital-based surgical lifestyle into a structured, high-volume ambulatory procedural practice.
Clinical Focus
The physician will participate in the evaluation, treatment, longitudinal management, and procedural planning of patients with vascular and venous disease.
Clinical Areas Include:
-Chronic venous insufficiency
-Varicose veins
-Venous reflux disease
-Leg swelling and venous symptoms
-Venous ulceration and venous skin changes
-Superficial venous thrombosis
-Acute and chronic deep venous thrombosis
-Post-thrombotic syndrome
-Anticoagulation coordination and follow-up
-Peripheral arterial disease medical management
-Claudication evaluation and conservative management
-Vascular risk-factor modification
-Cardiovascular and vascular disease prevention counseling
-Hypertension, diabetes, lipid, tobacco-use, obesity, and lifestyle risk-factor coordination related to vascular disease
-Duplex-based vascular evaluation and treatment planning
-Patient education and treatment counseling
-Office-based venous interventions (depending on training, privileges, and experience)
-Longitudinal follow-up of patients with chronic vascular and venous disease
-The role requires a physician who understands that effective vascular care depends on accurate diagnosis, risk-factor control, clear patient education, appropriate procedural planning, and strong follow-through from consultation to treatment.
The selected physician will help:
-Increase appropriate consult-to-treatment conversion
-Expand office-based venous treatment capacity
-Strengthen vascular medicine specialization within the practice
-Improve medical management of vascular disease
-Improve continuity between vascular lab findings, consultation, risk-factor management, and treatment
-Support access to specialized vascular and vein care across multiple regions of Puerto Rico
-Help build one of the leading outpatient vascular medicine and venous disease platforms on the island
