- Development Database Manager
Description
About the Role
The Development Database Manager is a high-touch technical role that will own data integrity, gift processing, reporting, and platform strategy within the development function to maximize revenue generation and increase the accuracy of revenue forecasts for TACA. A dedicated Development Database Manager transforms Raiser’s Edge into a proactive revenue engine by optimizing the system, automating workflows, and unlocking dormant features. This position can directly accelerate the fundraising cycle and unlock hidden capacity across the (growing) TACA team.
A Day in the Life…
- Gift Processing
- Audit and perform donor records clean up (e.g. duplicate donor records, blank fields, reconciliation gaps between Development and Finance, etc.)
- Expand TACA’s use of advanced tools (e.g. advanced analytics, dashboards, etc.)
- Create a reliable system of records and reporting (i.e. develop SOPs for donor documentation processes)
What You Will Do…
- Data Integrity and Gift Processing
- Own daily gift batch processing, including checks and stock gifts, ensuring accurate coding to campaign, fund, and general ledger.
- Run and audit the automated tax receipt process; spot check for duplicate records and formatting inconsistencies.
- Lead a full database cleanup and deduplication effort, standardizing salutations, addresses, and constituent records.
- Reporting and Analytics
- Build and maintain dashboards tracking donor retention, campaign ROI, and fundraising KPIs for Development leadership.
- Generate reliable monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.
- Create fundraising dashboards so lapsing donors are flagged before they are lost.
- Platform Strategy and System Ownership
- Serve as TACA's lead Raiser's Edge administrator: troubleshooting, updates, user permissions, and staff training.
- Identify and activate dormant native features, such as wealth screening and custom dashboards, before recommending any new third party tool.
- Manage integrations between Raiser's Edge and outside platforms used for donations, email, and events.
- Finance Alignment
- Partner directly with the Director of Development and Finance to keep gift codes and the CRM in sync with the general ledger.
- Support month end reconciliation and resolve discrepancies between fundraising and finance records.
- Documentation and Training
- Write and maintain a step-by-step data entry and gift processing manual covering all core CRM workflows.
- Train Development staff on system use, updates, and best practices.
- Prospect Development
- Batch screen unrated donor records using ResearchPoint and deliver prioritized major gift prospect lists to the Director of Development.
Requirements
What We're Looking For…

- 5+ years managing and optimizing a complex database platform, with Raiser's Edge experience strongly preferred. Deep experience in a comparable system, such as Salesforce NPSP or Tessitura, will also be considered.
- 3+ years of experience working directly inside a fundraising or development department.
- A demonstrated track record of cleaning up messy data: merging duplicate records, standardizing fields, and using tools like Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs, etc.
- Comfort reading a technical manual and teaching yourself a new system feature without formal training.
- Experience building donor and leadership facing dashboards that translate raw data into meaningful metrics.
- Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to turn informal staff knowledge into clear, written processes.
- Experience working with cross-collaborative teams (i.e. finance or accounting team) to reconcile records preferred.
What You Will Gain…
- Meaningful ownership. Lead projects from concept through implementation, creating solutions that have a lasting impact on TACA's fundraising operations.
- Data-driven influence. Design dashboards and reporting solutions that provide leadership with actionable insights and inform strategic decision-making.
- Professional growth. Expand your technical expertise by working with Raiser's Edge, analytics tools, reporting platforms, and fundraising technologies.
