- Assistant Senior Center Director
Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Senior and Family Recreation, assists in the planning, developing and administering comprehensive senior citizen programming, including management and business operation of the center. Provides comprehensive reports to the Director of program monitoring, participant interests, and makes recommendations for new programs or revisions of existing programs. Maintains records of programs and activities to assist in the preparation of departmental reports. Also, acts as supportive liaison to seniors and meets with community residents and township officials to evaluate community needs and determine future activities and programs. Assumes full responsibility for the daily operation of the center in the absence of the Director.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires knowledge of personnel management, conflict resolution, program planning and public relations. Also, professional principles related to working with seniors and the ability to run a growth-oriented program. An individual in this position must have the ability to do the following: exercise judgment/discretion; interact with a diverse community; establish and maintain effective work relationships with elected officials, appointed officials, department heads, employees, government agencies and community groups. In addition, understand and carry out complex oral and written directions, prepare reports, compile budgetary data and provide analysis. Also, assists in reviewing budgetary requests and preparation of the Township Budget.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Gerontology (preferred), Recreation Administration, or social work leading to a Certificate in Aging. A minimum of five years’ experience in a municipal senior center or recreation department with at least two years of administrative or supervisory experience. Also, candidate should obtain and/or possess the following certifications: National Recreation and Parks Association, Certified Park and Recreational Professional required within two years of hire date and American Red Cross Community CPR, Standard First Aid Certification required within two months of hire date.
