|   LOCATION:  Various locations throughout the County.  WORK SCHEDULE:  Consists of a morning shift and afternoon shift based on school schedules.  Double shifts (working two school posts) are available.  SALARY:  $49.44 per day for a morning and afternoon shift (approximately three hours per day).  NOTE:  Sworn members who are presently assigned to a specialty unit as defined in any Collective Bargaining Agreement are eligible to apply for other opportunities within the agency upon the successful completion of one (1) year of service at their present assignment. Sworn members not assigned to a specialty unit are eligible to apply for other opportunities upon successful completion of their probationary period.   NOTE:  Civilian members may apply for any posted non-management position upon the successful completion of their probationary period.  Civilian members may apply for any posted management position regardless of their probationary status at the time of the posted position.  NOTE: External applicants applying for a position that requires a college degree or college credits/credit hours should upload Unofficial Transcripts with their application. If an external applicant meets all job requirements as indicated within the posting details, applicant will be required to provide Official Transcripts to Human Resources during the selection process.  SELECTION PROCESS:  Oral Board Interview which will constitute 100% of the final pass/fail selection weight.  All offers of employment to external applicants and internal part-time to full-time or civilian to sworn candidates are also subject to and contingent upon successful completion of the CVSA/polygraph, background investigation, pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.   Applicants with a disability who require accommodation within the application/interview process should direct a request in advance to Human Resources.  DATE, TIME, AND LOCATION:  Testing, when required, will be conducted in Human Resources at a date and time to be announced.  The date, times, and location of the interview process to be announced, in writing, by the hiring division.  FINAL RANKING:   Civilian and Non Specialty Units - An Eligibility list will be produced in alphabetical order based on a pass/fail process with a passing score that equals 70 points.  Specialty Units - The Specialty Unit Commander and/or his/her designee shall interview the candidate(s) and make a selection recommendation to the Sheriff, except that, at his discretion, the Sheriff may elect to interview candidates for Section, Unit for Division Commander and make the selection directly.  SELECTION/DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY LIST:   Civilian Units (Promotional Only) – An eligibility list shall remain in effect and may be utilized for promotions for two (2) years.  Vacancies that occur after expiration of a list, but prior to certification of a new list, shall be filled from the new list.  Vacancies that occur prior to the expiration of a promotional eligibility list will be filled from the list existing at the time of the vacancy in accordance with CBA – Article 28.  PBSO may select the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list, provided that the selected person(s) has not been suspended for ten (10) or more days for one or more incidents within an eighteen (18) month period prior to the date of the promotion.  Civilian and Non Specialty Units - An eligibility list generally has a life of one year or until exhausted, whichever is sooner, based on the date Human Resources certifies it is effective.  The commander may select any qualified candidate appearing on the list for the vacant position.  After filling a vacancy from the eligibility list, the commander may allow the remainder of the list expire or repost any future vacant positions.  Specialty Units - An eligibility list shall be established which will remain in effect for one (1) year; however, the Sheriff or his designee may sunset the list when only one candidate remains and repost any future vacant positions.      REVIEW AND APPEAL PROCESS:   An appeal of a decision, scoring error, or test results shall be made in writing to the Human Resources Division Manager or designee within seven (7) calendar days after the release of any score or decision that eliminated the candidate from the process, or affected the candidate's score.  This appeal process is the only method to appeal these matters and is available to internal PBSO applicants exclusively.   |
