Percussion Music Instructor -Part-Time/Full-time plus Benefits

Summary:
The VIBES Music Instructor is responsible for teaching, preparing, and assisting in lesson planning for private lessons and group classes. The ideal candidate should be friendly and warm and have experience performing and teaching a wide variety of skill levels and ages. VIBES provides comprehensive benefits and competitive compensation to all full-time employees. VIBES is not able to sponsor applicants for work visas.
Requirements
Education/ Experience:
Qualified applicants must have a High School diploma; working towards a Music Associates or Bachelors degree; Music Associates or Music Bachelor's degrees preferred; prior experience as a teacher and/or musician preferred. Qualified applicants must be proficient in and comfortable teaching Violin, plus any additional stringed instruments, and proficient in beginning piano techniques.
Supervisor:
Operations Manager, unless otherwise designated.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Lead, teach, and facilitate private music lessons and classes independently without supervision.
- Plan, prepare, and research current and appropriate methodologies and repertoire for the instrument or lesson/class being taught.
- Prepare and adapt teaching materials for each class.
- Communicate daily with the VIBES administrative staff regarding student attendance, parent concerns, and class/ student successes and/or challenges.
- Encourage students personal musical development at home between classes utilizing good practice techniques.
- Attend staff meetings and collaborations as needed.
- Clearly communicate with students and parents of all ages and backgrounds.
- Abide by all policies and procedures established by VIBES.
- Assist with any task required by the direct supervisor.
Required Skills:
- Advanced musical playing ability on at least one or more instruments, preferably percussion, piano and/or guitar.
- Ability to successfully pass a playing review during the interview.
- Ability to motivate & inspire students and parents
- Enthusiasm, passion, and imagination while conducting classes
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Patience while working with a wide variety of skillsets.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Must treat everyone equally with respect and dignity.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit and/ or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to get up and down from the floor, crawl, run, skip, jump, etc. for extended periods of time while in class.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to interact with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
- In order to best serve our customers, all employees must be able to communicate face-to-face and on the phone with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as strumming, playing an instrument, etc.
- Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and transportation to run errands as needed.
