Position Description:
The Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies invite applications for Part-Time Lecturer teaching positions to teach introductory and upper division courses in the discipline, including, but not limited to, Women in American Culture, Gender and Public Dialogue, Humanities and Gender, Gender and Art, Gender and Popular Music, History of Women in Medicine, Feminist/Women's History.
Candidates must have completed 18 hours of graduate coursework in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies and have at least one semester of classroom teaching experience and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include additional graduate hours in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, an M.A. or Ph.D. in Women's, Gender Studies and Sexuality Studies, or a PhD in a related field. Experience in online/distance education instruction is also preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of responsibility, initiative, creativity, and dependability, and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Instructors are expected to utilize Blackboard to submit course syllabus, order textbooks or other reading materials, provide developmentally meaningful feedback, present engaging learning experiences, respond to students in a timely manner, communicate regularly with designated academic program director, submit final grades within university deadlines, and comply with other requests as a part-time lecturer such as completing an attestation disclosure form, along with completing annual evaluations.
Candidates will be reviewed and placed in a pool for consideration as openings arise. Applications will be accepted throughout the year, and appointments will be made as needed. Please be advised that the need for part-time instructors varies from semester to semester. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must apply on-line and attach a single document that contains a letter of application; a current vita, including a list of courses taught; a sample syllabus; transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable, but official transcripts may be requested later); and email addresses of at least three academic or professional references.
