SUMMARY:
• Overall responsibility for planning and organizing day-to-day operations within assigned cell.
• Arranges and controls daily team activities to ensure smooth workflow, quality production, and timely delivery.
• Leads and motivates individual and team development in the Production Department, quality performance, and service to internal and external customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety & 5S
- Ensure the cell is clean and organized
- Write Near Miss Reports
- Help Move raw materials to machines and back to stock
- Contribute toward improving 5S of the facility
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to optimize run speeds and ensure safety
- Model & champion safe work habits including wearing the personal protective equipment. Strive for zero accidents at all times.
Quality
- Responsible for the quality of the product manufactured in the cell
- Manage wait lab areas and move job cards and wire. Disposition extra wire.
- Review runsheets and ensure paperwork accuracy and completeness
- Review areas for left behind paperwork.
- Audit quality in each production area
- Daily review of NCMR area and perform actions as necessary.
- Ensure constant verifications and quality checks are conducted
- Ensure all support documentation including traveler sheets, reel tags and setup sheets are accurate and the latest revisions.
- Assist in Lean Improvements
- Backup operators as required for absences & vacations.
- Work closely with sales and production control to assure correct product is being manufactured.
- Plan and organize all production through the cell in a timely fashion, using computer system.
- Acknowledge areas that present a bottleneck and work with Segment Lead to keep an even flow of product through the cell.
- Assist Segment Lead with updating backlog, identifying pull ins/lates.
- Maintain a min/max inventory level of product.
- Schedule using a kanban system to reduce the number of transactions in the cell.
- Work closely with Segment Lead and Process Engineering to maintain optimum conditions and throughput of product.
- Monitor the productivity boards and the NCMR areas daily.
Training & Hiring
- Instruct, oversee, and provide training for all personnel in the assigned cell.
- OLPC: Mentor and Coach employees towards OLPC environment.
- Communication training gaps to Segment Lead/Operations.
- Contribute toward adding to training requirement by position as applicable.
- Complete annual performance reviews for each hourly member of assigned cell. Work with Segment Lead & HR for final review.
Growth
- Assist engineers with trials
- Assist in personnel corrective action reports
- Weekly inventory of reels
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of basic to moderate math skills.
- Extensive knowledge of product specifications and production standards.
- In-depth knowledge of industry regulations.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience in a supervisory role preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving techniques.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum 3 years of production line experience in a related industry.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers and other department personnel.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:
- None required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position requires some physical demand. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Wear safety attire or protective gear on a daily basis.
- Work indoors. These sites may not be temperature-controlled.
- Are often exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
